Woo it’s late, surprised I’m still up at this time. Well…what’s new?
- Got an Xbox 360…and I’m flat broke now
- Got a D on my first Physics test =[
- All A's and a B in Physics =]
- First 3 day weekend this weekend
- Watching Lost like crazy
Yeah, that’s all I can really think of…anyway, moving on shall we.
So I got the Xbox 360, bit of an impulse buy but I was really needing something new to fill my time, and a little reward for myself since in my opinion, I’ve been doing quite good with school. Got it, along with NBA 2k9, which at times I regret buying but I’ll get Gears of War 2 in due time. I also bought Geometry Wars 2, which I’ve been playing quite a bit today. It’s quite the time killer. I really like how I can stream videos from my PC to my TV through my 360, been watching Lost like crazy now, almost to the middle of season 2. Watched Scarface today too, haven’t seen it in a while, loved it like always.
School sure has taken a toll on me though. I find myself in bad moods quite a bit. It was nice to have this three day weekend and really kick back and relax, get things done, although I bailed on my dad from this trip to central Oregon to golf and what not… =/, oh well. Had work already scheduled off though so I had none this weekend, which was also nice, finally a weekend where I was totally free (aside from the bit of homework). Really gotta crank it out for this ProbStat mid-term on Tuesday, hopefully I’ll do ok, just need to put my time into studying. Cleaned my room today though, I’m diggin it, put in some time on the homework too. But wow do I hate being flat broke, and I’ll still feel like it unfortunately after the next paycheck.
Anyways, just a quick update, I should be getting to bed, I haven’t stayed up this late in forever, wow.
Lately I’ve been staying up quite a bit later than usual. Which is a bit annoying in the mornings, as expected. I don’t know what it is I feel about sleep though. It doesn’t necessarily feel like a waste of time right now. I think it’s mainly the fact that I’m tired at the wrong times and awake at the wrong times. For instance, I’ll get really tired around a decent time for bed, yet still have some homework I need to do. I’ll then finally do it, and by the time I finish, I’m wide awake and just not interested in the subject of sleep. I guess I just have to manage my time a little better and add in some physical activity more often.
I really want to start golfing more again. I don’t have the time though really, or the money for weekend golfing…the rates during the weekend are raised and it’s just quite frankly an annoyance to me, I’m sure I could squeeze it in but I’d rather use my minimum wage income for other things. It’s always nice to see people who are very good at golf play though. Instant respect in my book.
I downloaded this album today:
It’s a good listen in my opinion. Features Blu..Talib..Supastition to name a few, and my stand out track would probably be The City. Got a Nujabes album too but haven’t given it a listen yet. I also got a leak of Murs’ new album and to be honest, I’m not all that impressed. Most of the production I’m really just not feeling, I don’t know why, it has such a mainstream production sound to it in my opinion. There are a few gems on the album though.
I’ve come to find I hate writing essays unless they’re research papers. I guess it’s just been such a long while since I’ve done one other than research that it felt awkward today writing a paper relating to the book Rats Saw God. Then again I wasn’t really taking my time and rushing it to get a rough draft done.
Well, time to enter the month of October soon. Another hot day tomorrow. Gonna check into this Dental Explorers thing at OHSU Dental School here soon. Sleeeeeeeeeeep.

Wow, had this blog for almost a month now, I think that may be a record with blogs. Anyways, school has pretty much set in, I’m working on my senior seminar project at the moment, well, starting to, getting familiar with all the forms and I’m gonna try to adjust my project to this accelerated outline so I can get it done at the end of the semester and have no first period next semester =].
Anyways, after that first week I was pretty damn tired and noticed myself to be pretty cranky on that weekend. I think I’ve just adjusted now, I’ve fallen into a pretty good loop, getting to school quite early every day, pulling good grades.
As far as the classes go, I guess here’s my take on them now.
History of Rock & Roll – Pretty interesting class, I actually like the PBS documentary series we’ve been watching for the class, quite interesting stuff. Going over Bob Dylan and The Beatles right now, not particularly interested in Dylan but to hear about the Beatles and everything that went on is cool. Very easy class, literally just go to class and watch a movie every period, helps if I’m tired in the mornings too cause I can basically doze off.
English 12 – Hm, not much to say about this class, still reading a book (Rats Saw God) that I’ve already read. Although now that we go over it again in class, I realize I totally mistook the ending for what it really was, well, a part of it, which annoyed me to be honest haha. Just typical class work, little quizes here and there, which sometimes suck cause I honestly haven’t been reading the book…it’s just too much in my personal opinion to read it again when I just finished it a few months prior, I don’t have the interest.
Physics – Probably my favorite class, the teacher is really cool, probably one of my top favorites already, and the subject matter isn’t too bad either, math + science = good thing to me (not when it comes to Chemistry, we’ll get to that later). It’s been a bunch of labs so far, and unfortunately on my first write up I didn’t do so well..then again I half-assed it to be honest and ended up with a C+ =[. Oh well, plenty of time to work on that.
Probability and Statistics - Quite frankly, I want more structure in this class. Right now we've just been doing silly little labs that I did in freshman year science...reason being we're going to get groups in a freshman science class and basically run the unit with them and have them go through the whole process of doing the lab and write up because each lab has something to do with statistics. Anyways, evidently this coming week is when the real homework starts (book work) so that'll be good, and hopefully not too hard.
SSE - Not much to say about this, other than it's REALLY slow paced compared to summer SSE, which I hate. So half the time I'm being sent from class since it's known that I was in summer SSE, even though I honestly didn't really do much, but oh well, rather do that than sit in class hearing the same stuff I've already heard in one day, over the course of three weeks.
Spanish 2 - Not bad really, just full of younger kids unfortunately. Pretty easy though so far, I've done good surprisingly, much easier when you actually go to class...pay attention...etc haha.
Team Sports - Go to class, don't warm up, play sports. Not much else to be said. Just your typical kind of PE class without warm ups.
Chemistry - Worst. Class. I. Have. I hope to never take anymore Chemistry after this. I don't know if it's just the teacher or what but I'm not a fan. It's extremely boring, it's at the end of the day, I'm the only senior in there. Hasn't been too overly hard yet. Oh well, I'll tough it out...
Anyways, there you have it, that's what I've got for school. Recently I started downloading emulators and roms (N64, SNES, and Gameboy C/Adv to be specific) and also ordered a Xbox 360 controller for Windows to play them with so it's easier and more game feeling than the keyboard. Which...in retrospect kind of annoys me that I even bought any of those games on the virtual console on the Wii. Oh well, live and ya learn I guess. I also bought a new watch yesterday during work...
Analog Brown Dial
Impulse buy…but it wasn’t too expensive. I honestly think I might start collecting watches. Anyways, work yesterday, dear god. Was there from 1:30 to a little after 10. It was killer. But the money I earned for the shift was basically that watch. Bought the watch on break so I had something to look forward to. But woo was I tired.

Well, I wouldn’t say my classes are bad at all. I guess I’ll give a run through of them…disregarding the first day usual stuff of getting papers that need to be signed, overviews, etc.
History of Rock & Roll – Second day of this class was when things finally got rolling of course. We talked about early Minstrel Shows and that stuff, and then got into more african-american artists/bands and talked about that. Quite honestly I wasn’t too interested but I think things will start to pick up because we’re entering the 30s/40s era I believe and after that I think the class will only go up in terms of interest.
English – Not much to say here, same teacher as last year which is cool. Reading Rats Saw God to start…already read it so no interest there I guess.
Physics – The teacher, Mr. Robinette, is pretty cool I’d have to say. Seems like he knows a bit about technology, and the class hasn’t been too bad. Did get assigned a project due a month from now on colleges that is gonna be pretty easy, could knock it out in a few hours, as well as our first homework packet. Second day we actually got to leave class and go out into the halls for our first lab, which was nice. Plus he gives text message updates, can’t beat that.
Probability & Statistics – Not bad, teacher seems really laid back, plenty of friends in the class, seems like it’ll be an easy math class, not much else to be said.
SSE – Teacher is pretty…wacky and interesting. Not much to be said about that class, just seems like it’ll be a slack off/sleep period, gonna try and knock out SSE midway through the year and take a free period after that.
Spanish 2 – Teacher seems pretty strict but…all in all it’s spanish, not much else to be said.
Team Sports – Teacher is hilarious. All we do is play sports. No warm ups. Can’t beat that eh?
Chemistry – Only senior in that class…and it wasn’t particularly interesting the first day and I don’t really presume it to be further in areas, considering I’ve already taken a semeseter of that class back in soph year. Time to redeem myself.
So there’s that. Guess I’ll keep updates throughout the year if something interesting happens or there’s a topic I find interesting but other than that, I just expect it to be school.
Recently on the other hand, I’ve taken up Lost. I’m about 9 episodes in now, and it’s way addicting, I’m loving it. Looking to knock out all the seasons before the next one starts up in January. I think the cast is very well done and the plot just seems so all over the place and there’s just so much to focus on that it keeps me so pulled in.
As far as my Zelda progress, I’ve beaten the last boss I posted a video of and the one after that since then =]

First off, this boss, from the skull dungeon, the third dungeon in the dark world, is annoying the hell out of me…see below, even though this guy totally rocks him.
Anyways, moving on now. Few goals…well more than a few:
- Save money…budget towards savings, gas, and spending money/golf, and have 300 saved by Jan 1, 2009
- Golf once a week
- Try to run at least 5 times a week
- Beat A Link to the Past by the end of the year…should be plenty more time than needed ;]
- Do the same as above with Super Mario Galaxy
- Maintain above a 3.5 every report card and get a 4.0 at semester’s end.
- Finish SSE mid-year.

So I come across a lot of different individuals working at a movie theater in a mall. A lot of different, annoying, individuals to be more specific. So, let’s start from the bottom.
The kids who come in and try to get into a rated R movie. Quite frankly I don’t care about the rule, but I’m not gonna let that rule own me in the end when I let some underage individuals into a movie they are restricted from seeing. They sit there, beg and plead, even ask if they can call their mom and have her talk to me on the phone. They don’t like taking no for an answer. Oh well, they aren’t too bad. They could lose some make up and put on more clothes though. Then of course the parents are sometimes with them but don’t understand it’s a rule that they must go see the movie with them, not just buy their tickets and let them in. Of course, parents, if you’re smart, say you have a group of four, just buy three tickets on your own, one adult, two kids or something, or just three tickets in general, and walk away, as if you’re acting like you’re going to see the movie with two individuals. Then of course that lone bystander can come meet up with your group again, get that third “golden ticket” and they can generally get in.
Then of course we have the money issue. Lately it’s been the 3D movies. There is a premium charge for movies, from what I hear is for the equipment we use for the 3D movies which we have to “rent”, I guess, and for whatever else, I don’t know, don’t really care considering I get free movies. Regardless though, seniors and children is two dollars extra, adults are two-fifty extra. It’s not mentioned in the paper (then again, prices in general aren’t from what I recall) so people get their 90% of the time having no idea about this charge. It gets really old explaining it, it really does, so I just tend not to anymore, ring up their tickets, tell them the price, and they give me a dumbfounded look. Then of course I have to explain or at least give the hint, we have several signs at our tables saying in plain bold, premium charge for 3D movies and its cost. It’s always a let down to people, hell I’m sure it would be to me, you’re paying an arm and a leg for these dumb movies. So of course they get a little uptight about it, like to complain to me, frankly I don’t care, they need to realize I can’t change a thing, I’m a seventeen year old working in the box office of a movie theater, not some CEO of the company. I had a grandma come in with three children today, if I recall right, that total would be 34 dollars, would be quite annoying to me just for a movie. So of course, I explain it to her, she gives me this look, and I decide to ask if that’s ok before I ran her debit card. She said it was ok, I ring the debit card, and of course she has to chime in with “well actually it’s not ok but ya know…what can ya do these days” and then start complaining on and on about how it wasn’t in the paper and how she wished she knew before she came, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda. Sorry I can’t play god, grandma. Thankfully I haven’t had to put up with whining in the concession stands.
Then of course, we have the certain kinds of money handlers.
- Person A – He/she likes to get out their money/card, and drop/slam/toss onto the table in front of me. There for, I have to pick it up. Just hand me it for it god sake, you realize it saves you time, a few seconds at least. I’m not your bitch.
- Person B – Hey buddy, I’m sorry but can I drop my change off on you? *hands ziplock bag full of change*…need I say more?
- Person C – This tends to be with a little combination of Person A…they have those characteristics, but not only that, they roll their dollars up into some sort of ball/wad/rectangle/weird design, and expect me to unroll and flatten out the thing. My god people, GET A WALLET OR SOMETHING, MOST OF YOU ARE OVER 18 AS IT IS.
And of course, we have those who complain about not being able to take outside food/drink into our theater. Aw, boohoo. How about learn tricks with bags, or your girlfriend’s/wife’s purse. You were a teenager too once, think like one.
Or there’s of course, the adults who do think like teenagers, and maybe act like them a little too much for their own good. They sit there and poke at your for a discount. “Hey mannnnn wanna hook us up with the senior discount” and they don’t let you disregard their statement the first time, it happens subtly about three more times.
I love the ladies that come in too. Too caught up in their own talk about whatever it may be, buy their tickets, keep on talking not paying attention to me, I could probably give them back the wrong change and they wouldn’t even notice. I tell them where their theater is, which hall, etc. Next thing I know “UM EXCUSE ME, WHERE IS THIS MOVIE”. Dear god.
This one isn’t too bad, and I can’t blame the people for not knowing this. The people who do this are usually nice anyways. Come in, tell me you have 3 adults, 4 kids, 2 seniors, blah blah blah, before you tell me the movie, in which I usually forget all that in a rush of people. Movie comes first, because that’s what I have to select first on my computer screen, then I can start selecting the tickets. I won’t blame people for that though, just a little box office annoyance I guess =P.
Of course, my favorite one of all though, “are you open?”. No, I just stand here for my own personal enjoyment staring out at all you guys, it’s quite a good time!

Wow did today feel long. Didn’t really do much, just consisted of the following:

Super Mario Galaxy

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Played a little bit of NCAA Football ‘09 as well, lost a game, won a game, meh.
Anyways, started playing Galaxy again after I wrote the last blog late last night. Not too far into it, have around 25 stars, I believe there are 120 stars in the game, so I guess that judges my completion right there. The visuals and graphics in that game are superb, very colorful. The music is a major plus as well, so good my nerd side of me had to download the soundtrack. Always good to turn on every once in a while and earn 5 stars or so.
As for Zelda, I’m diggin into it pretty good, beat the first boss in the dark world so there for that’s the 5th boss overall I’ve beaten in the game. About to start the second dungeon in the dark world…the Watergate dungeon I believe it is. Oh how I love Super Nintendo games. A Link to the Past would probably have to be one of my favorites, if not the favorite, from the Super Nintendo. Definitely a worthy buy off the virtual console on the Wii. Crisp color, classic Zelda music, fun gameplay, cool 2D world, can’t beat it. Not to mention puzzles and tricks galore, keeps your mind going all the time. And of course, best of all, the storyline.
Other than that, boring Saturday, college football needs to start already, next weekend w00t! Got work tomorrow, oh joy.

Well, to start off, I really don’t know where I’m gonna go with this blog. I figured I’d start one around the start of this school year, keep me on track, keep my thoughts down, talk about anything and everything.
Other than that, I’m just sitting here, pretty bored. Just scrolled through basically all of my 5300+ tracks in iTunes and couldn’t figure out what to pick, I think quite frankly I need more music. Finally decided on some Blu & Exile, a breath of fresh air for the hip-hop game last year with their album Below the Heavens.

Blu & Exile "Below the Heavens" (2007)
Weird to think it came out last year…I could’ve sworn it came out this year but maybe time has just passed like crazy, regardless it’s a great album, ridiculously good for a debut, never gets old, Blu sure has the lyrical content coming and Exile’s beats are relaxing and nice. Top three favorite songs would probably be “So(ul) Amazin’ (Steel Blazin’)“, “The World Is (Below the Heavens…)“, and “Dancing in the Rain“.
Other than that I’ve been wasting my time today and the past week with the following:

NCAA Football '09 (PS2)

Roller Coaster Tycoon (PC)...yes, the original <3
NCAA I have just always, for some reason, been addicted to the dynasty mode and building teams up. Never gets old. As for RCT, the nostalgia totally kicked in when I started playing again and wow is it still addicting, killed three and a half hours today on it and didn’t even realize it.
Starting tomorrow…school starts in eleven days I believe, the third of September, oh joy. And my schedule:
- History of Rock and Roll
- English 12
- Physics
- Probability and Statistics
- Senior Seminar Experience
- Spanish 2
- Team Sports
- Chemistry
I don’t feel it’s too bad. Physics I don’t really know what to expect, heard it’s a lot of math so that’s nice to know, math isn’t too bad for me. Prob/stat, lets just hope that’s easier than pre-cal, or different at least. Spanish 2, probably will be annoying but I’m gonna have to suffer. Chemistry, looking to redeem myself.
Overall, I’m not too worried about this year, I think as long as I actually go to class all the time, I’ll be fine, and just keep on task with my homework, keep organized with my life in general, things should be good. If I happen to finish my senior seminar early I can free up a period right there, and history of rock and roll is only a semester long and that period will be blank after first semester, so that can free up too. If I work my ass off maybe I’ll reward myself with some excused periods, we’ll see.
